An employee arrives on time each day. He or she always turns in that weekly report. You see a lot of chatter on Slack. Yet, how do you know the employee is doing good work? Some of your staff might be doing the work you will notice but not the work that needs to be done. And, it’s often hard to know if the work is helping your business. Recently, I spoke with someone who has a pretty good idea about how to quantify employee work. Kris Duggan is the CEO of BetterWorks, an application for measuring employee performance and goal setting. The basic concept is to have employees set specific goals, and then have an open system where managers are able to track those foals and give feedback. This can roll-up to a company-wide report.
